Complete HTC Ozone specs unearthed

We’ve already given the world its first peek and Verizon’s upcoming HTC Ozone, nailed down its scheduled availability of June 29th/July 13th and pegged its pricing at $49.99 after MIR, but we’re not done yet because two of our VZW ninjas just hit us up with the complete spec list for the device — and plenty more. Just as we suspected, the Ozone features EV-DO Rev. A connectivity in addition to quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE. We’re also pleased to report that the GPS chip is not shackled to VZ Navigator and that Verizon will allow users to use the device as a tethered modem (for a fee of course). Hit the jump for the rest of the specs along with a sizable Ozone deck.

Sprint launches LG LX370, Samsung Exclaim and HTC Snap

Believe it or not, Sprint fans, there actually are other new handsets available from the carrier beyond the Palm Pre. You might not think so with all of the focus that the webOS device is — or was — getting, but it is true. Sure there’s the Tour coming down the pipe for all you BlackBerry fans out there, but what about there rest of you? Well, between yesterday and today Sprint has launched three new handsets that should fill in the gaps quite nicely. First up, the LG LX370 was announced today featuring Sprint’s One Click UI, EV-DO Rev. A, a 2 megapixel camera, GPS, Sprint TV, stereo Bluetooth and microSDHC support. Fair enough for a $100 slider (after $50 MIR). Also announced this morning is the Samsung Exclaim, which sports a side-sliding QWERTY keypad along with a 2 megapixel camera, EV-DO Rev. A, GPS, Sprint TV, Sprint One Click UI and microSDHC support. The Exclaim is a touch more affordable at $80 after a $50 MIR. Last but not least, the HTC Snap finally decided to join the party yesterday. Already available from Best Buy and Radio Shack, the Snap has already been detailed a zillion times so just know that it’ll run you $150 after a $100 MIR if you want to snag it directly from Sprint. See anything you like?

HTC Ozone to land on Verizon June 29th

Remember the HTC Ozone? Of course you do and so does one of our Verizon ninjas because we’ve received word that the Ozone (also known as the XV6175, Snap, Cedar and Willow if you’re so inclined) will apparently be available online starting June 29th with brick and mortal availability to follow on July 13th. Pricing is still something we’ve yet to zero in on but if you’re the sort of person who stands by Big Red and are absolutely dying to get your hands on an all-too-rare WinMo-powered candybar with a full-QWERTY, then something tells us price is no object. Right?

LG announces GW550 smartphone; watch out HTC Snap

No, it’s not quite as exciting or sexy as the Aigen GM730 but the new GM550 smartphone is will likely make business users raise an eyebrow. Like the HTC Snap, The GM550 is a Windows Mobile 6.1-powered handset designed with pure business users in its sights. While the company has yet to reveal pricing or a release date, the handset does pack quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and “global 3G” so carrier support or not, it will definitely be an option for business-minded users here in the US. So what do you think, GW550 or Snap? Hit the jump for two more pics.

Sprint HTC Snap available now from Best Buy, coming to Radio Shack tomorrow; still not on Sprint’s website?

In all the excitement surrounding the Pre, it appears as though Sprint may have forgotten about the poor HTC Snap. Rumored to be available starting Sunday June 7th, the Snap is still nowhere to be found on Sprint’s website. A new rumor however, suggests that the Snap will hit Radio Shack tomorrow for a contract price of $149.99. Curiously enough, the Snap is also still on Best Buy’s website and is apparently available for a contract-free price of $519.99 — in-store pickup is even available with several stores showing available inventory. If you are desperate for this Windows Mobile phone and have loads of cash laying around, hit up Best Buy to get your handset today. Those who are desperate but financially strapped may have to wait until tomorrow to see if the rumored Radio Shack launch materializes. Everyone else will just have to wait for Sprint to get its act together and get this phone out the door.

Verizon’s HTC Touch Pro gets firmware update, GPS unlock and Visual Voicemail included

PhoneNews is reporting that Verizon Wireless has approved a firmware update for the xv6850 Touch Pro. As promised by Verizon Wireless late last year, this firmware update will unlock the GPS on the handset, allowing owners to use Google Maps or Windows Live Search instead of the proprietary and costly VZ Navigator. The firmware update also adds Visual Voicemail support to the phone, a feature that requires a $3 monthly fee and EVRC-B codec support which improves call handling. The update is not available through Verizon Wireless or HTC yet but it is being offered early by Phone News. For those Touch Pro owners who have not already hacked their phone to unlock the GPS, hit the read link to obtain the firmware update — at your own risk of course. Samsung Saga and Samsung Omnia owners – hang in there and hopefully a similar update for your crippled handset is right around the corner, too.

ATT’s HTC Touch Pro2 has many names, one FCC approval

Call it the HTC Rhodium, call it the HTC Fortress, call it the HTC Touch Pro2 or whatever else you like — the bottom line is the AT&T version of this sexy Windows Mobile handset has just received a green flag from the FCC and we want it now. Proving that big really is beautiful, the Pro2 is probably one of the most attractive Windows Mobile phone that has ever been built in every sense of the word. The giant 3.6-inch sliding/pivoting touchscreen display, the spacious QWERTY keypad, the TouchFLO 3D UI… It’s all good. Now that big momma has the green light from the FCC and presuming internal testing it on schedule, it shouldn’t be long before this puppy graces AT&T shelves across the country. Yum.
