Firefox 3.6.6 Now Available for Download

Today, Firefox launched an update to our crash protection feature to extend the amount of time Firefox will wait before terminating unresponsive plugins.

The crash protection feature, first introduced in Firefox 3.6.4, protects Windows and Linux users from crashes and freezes caused by third party plugins such as Flash and Silverlight. When a plugin crashes, users can reload the Web page to restart the plugin and continue browsing. When a plugin freezes, making the whole browser unresponsive, Firefox 3.6.4 terminates the unresponsive plugin after waiting 10 seconds. These changes were tested with a beta audience of close to one million users.

Following the release of Firefox 3.6.4 we heard from some users, mainly those using older computers, that they sometimes expect longer periods of non-responsiveness from plugins, especially with games. For these users the default timeout of 10 seconds was too short. To address this, we increased the amount of time Firefox waits for a plugin to respond before terminating it from 10 to 45 seconds. This change has been made in Firefox 3.6.6, which was released today as an automatic update for all users.

  1. For this past 3-months I’ve been suffering sudden FireFox crashes whilst keying posts.. I think it’s the “keyboard short-cuts.. I suppose I accidentally tap one of the control keys, while writing a post, and suddenly FF is gone in a flash.. and so is all my work… Happened about twice a week…
A few minutes ago I defeated all keyboard short-cuts, to see if this helps…

In another topic.. I have been the target of ‘soulless demonic mindless vengeful bully police black-hats”.. They have made my computering and interneting into a hell for a three years.. I finally switched to Fedora, and their IP terrorizing suddenly stopped to a quiet neutral trickle… Seems the mindless g’rillas can’t get into a Fedora-14 hd unless one lets them in… Seems them thar mindless monkeys can get into anything when SeaMonkey is used as the browser…

I opened a few of their nasty emails, because I had to to, and that damaged seriously FireFox, with their “state of the art” blackhatter bugs… The top tool bar went inactive, and right click wouldn’t even show, and FireFox did things very slow… Maybe some of the glitches your people are trying to solve, are directly relateed to these blackhatter bugs..?
I have the demon’s last two emails, in a Yahoo free email account.. I suspect that the bugs in those 2-emails might help Mozilla defeat a few new blackhat bugs, and solve a few serious glitches…
How do I send you these emails, without me needing to open them?..

Why isn’t there an Internet close button in FireFox, like there is in SeaMonkey..?
I figure a good security plan would be to connect only when it’s required.. and cut the connection the moment it isn’t needed.. It would be nice if the connection would close itself like “screen saver engages when the OS has been idle for a set time period”… It would make Interneting a bit safer and cleaner, and it would take some the strain off the Internet…
