A sleeker and more compact version of the Samsung Instinct is coming, so grab your camping gear and find your nearest Sprint retailer. Or not. An official picture of the Instinct S30 — or what many thought to be the Instinct Mini, though it looks like that was just an internal name used on some Sprint documents — has slipped out from Samsung so one would have to imagine that it’ll be hitting stores pretty soon. The original Instinct was relatively solid except for the sometimes-troublesome battery door, so we’re hoping this one will be built like a rock. Of course, when the Instinct first arrived its main competitor was the iPhone, but now it will have to contend with the second and then third generation Jesus-phone as well as Sprint’s own Palm Pre. Sprint will have to be aggressive with marketing this handset, but please… No more cheesy “save-the-day” or “find-a-husband” Instinct commercials.

Motorola’s Hint QA30 is a device that we aren’t afraid to say that we’re not too fond of. A short, fat QWERTY slider whether open or closed, the Hint just doesn’t feel quite right (in our minds, not our hands) no matter how hard we try. But then perhaps we shouldn’t be slinging too much criticism as low-end QWERTY devices are primarily snapped up by youths who don’t quite have the finances to procure something with a little more kick. It doesn’t have the worst specs with EV-DO Rev. 0, a 2.5″ QVGA display, 2 megapixel camera with video capabilities, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 2.0 and support for microSD/microSDHC cards of up to 32GB, but it’s certainly no must-have for those who are looking for the next best thing to smartphone. So what is this going to cost the Canadian consumer? Bell has apparently set the pricing for the Hint at $129.95 on a three-year contract and $329.95 off contract which seems to indicate that Bell’s is betting that the Hint will be able to offset some of the damage done to their bottom line by the recent introduction of three low-end QWERTY devices from Rogers, the LG Neon and the Samsung Propel and Gravity.

It is officially official, Skype will be launching an iPhone version of its popular VoIP software on Tuesday and a BlackBerry version in May. Skype for the iPhone will be the standard run of the mill Skype application with an interface consistent with the iPhone’s slick UI. As with the desktop version, Skype to Skype calls will be free, while Skype to traditional numbers will incur a nominal fee. The VoIP service will require access to a Wi-Fi network and will not run over a cellular connection. Additionally, the iPhone version of Skype will also support chatting and, thankfully, this feature will be available via a cellular connection. There’s also several unique features including the ability to use the camera hardware to capture a photo or to pull in a picture from your photo album for use within the Skype application. Incoming conference calls can be accepted but the ability to initiate an outgoing conference call is not yet available. Not surprisingly, video calling will also not be available in these upcoming mobile versions but is reportedly being considered for future releases for the iPhone and other handsets. Best news of all, the Skype app for the iPhone will be available from the App store for free. Sorry BlackBerry users, but no additional information on the BlackBerry version yet. With a launch slated for May, you all may have to wait until WES rolls around. Hit the jump for a few more screen grabs.

Well would you look at that — AT&T has gone ahead and announced six new handsets including the Nokia E71x, LG Neon and Xenon, Samsung Magnet, Propel Pro and Impression just days before CTIA Wireless gets underway in Las Vegas. Starting off with the biggest and baddest of the bunch, the Nokia E71x, the sexy fully-QWERTY S60 device we are sure everyone is more than familiar with now due to a series of Bold-esque delays, will be available to customers “in the coming weeks” for the amazingly cool price of $99.99. Next up on the block is the Samsung Propel Pro, a device we scooped not too long ago. Powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 and featuring a sliding full-QWERTY keypad and Wi-Fi, the Propel Pro will be available starting April 14 for $149.99. After that we have the LG Magenta, a device which captured our attention just yesterday when it was first spotted in the wild. If, of course, features a touchscreen display, sliding QWERTY keypad, 2 megapixel camera, GPS and HSDPA connectivity. Look for it April 8 for $99.99. Now on to some low-end devices. First up is the Samsung Impression with it’s 3.2″ AMOLED display and 3 megapixel camera. It will go for $199.99 come April 7.

Hulu may be getting a healthy dose of new programming content courtesy of Disney. According to sources close to the situation, Hulu and Disney are in serious negotiations to bring Disney programming to the online video portal. The talks reportedly focus on ABC programming content which include the popular TV series Desperate Housewives and LOST, but may include programming from other Disney assets as well. In exchange for providing content, Disney is requesting an equity stake in Hulu on par with NBC Universal and News Corp and possibly performance incentives. With the relationship between Hulu and CBS souring, Hulu could use a high profile deal to boost its position in the increasingly competitive online video marketplace.
